Father Tom Baker
Rector
Fr. Tom believes faith is a verb, not a noun. It is trusting in God, not only a set of beliefs. He embodies a pastoral presence, listens more than he speaks, blesses more than judges, loosens more than binds up, cares more than directs, and empowers more than dictates.
He has been an ordained priest since 1990. Prior to being the Rector at St. Margaret’s he was the Rector at St. Aidan’s Episcopal Church in Olathe, Director of Spiritual Care for Stormont Vail Heath in Topeka, KS, and the Lead Chaplain for the first palliative care team at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center in Baltimore, MD. He also has over ten years of hospice chaplaincy and bereavement care.
Fr. Tom highly values diversity and affirms a person’s personal, sexual, and spiritual expression. He is dedicated to “hands on” pastoral care and highly values the role of the priesthood of believers. He considers it a joy and deep privilege to serve God and St. Margaret’s.
